It can sometimes be hard for new party members, especially younger members, to get active and feel as though they are making a difference. Hopefully, this page will make it easier for you to get to grips with how it all works, and find any events hosted locally which may interest you.
If the processes, vocabulary, or aims of the Labour Party still feel quite unfamiliar, don’t worry! That’s perfectly normal if you’re new, and helpfully there is a comprehensive guide for new members on the Labour Party website, linked to below.
Both locally and nationally, there is always plenty going on – as a constituency Labour Party (CLP), we host events across the year, where you can listen to guest speakers, vote to elect those in charge of running the CLP for the next year, and introduce yourself to other members at social events. In our neighbouring constituency, Cambridge, the Cambridge Universities Labour Club often hosts events which are open to all: check out their Facebook page below to see if there is anything you’d like to go to. Often, events like these can be a great way of building confidence and familiarising yourself with the party, so why not get involved?
Hopefully, these webpages can help you begin to make the most of your membership. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to email us – either at the below address, or the one printed on your membership card.
Of course, in the build-up to an election, be it a council election or a general election, we’d love to have you come along to a canvassing session with us. Here, you can go door-to-door to help ensure as many people as possible give us their vote, and given how close some of the results can be, your help could make all the difference. You can find canvassing sessions on in your area below too.
