“We are fortunate to have a thriving high street with so many independent shops and our lively market. It’s important to support these local businesses.” Louise Moschetta
Louise Moschetta has lived in Ely for four years. Labour chose her because of her passionate belief in the local community. And because she’s a fresh voice bringing a younger perspective to local politics.
Louise says “I love living here. As a mother of a young son, it’s great to be able to enjoy our lovely open spaces and playgrounds together.
“We are fortunate to have a thriving high street with so many independent shops and our lively market. It’s important to support these local businesses.”
Louise’s top three priorities for County Council are
Start building affordable homes. As a renter herself, Louise knows all about the insecurity of private renting and the difficulties of getting on the housing ladder. She wants to see a good choice of genuinely affordable homes for rent or to buy.
Provide a reliable and cheap bus service on all-electric buses. It’s shocking that car ownership here is 25% higher than the national average. We urgently need to offer real alternatives to cars so we can cut emissions.
Help people get around on foot or by bike. Build a network of safe cycleways and footpaths. Louise would also like to see more pedestrianisation. Look at how the market brings the centre to life when it operates on closed-off streets. We need more initiatives like this that put people first.
