I am lucky enough to have taken early retirement and this means I have time to give something back. I volunteer at a local homeless shelter as one way to make a difference and to make sure that everyone in our society is looked after.
Our villages are lovely places to live and it’s vital that our area continues to thrive. New homes are being built in our villages. Is enough being done to increase school places and GP provision?
As a Labour Councillor, I would insist on a minimum of 40% affordable homes as a pre-condition to any planning permission being granted. I’d push for the right facilities to be in place ready for the new residents. And I want to see the village nature continue; I’ll resist any attempt for us to become absorbed in an ever-expanding city.
