It’s good that our local councillors are concerned about Milton Country Park being ‘trampled on’ when 8000 new homes are built in NE Cambridge (Cambridge News 17 Dec).
However, we wonder why they haven’t thought of this before it was raised by campaigners at the recent South Cambs District Council scrutiny committee.
After all, the Milton Councillors are part of the Lib Dem group that’s been in power for nearly four years. The Lib Dem group that’s been working hard on the NE Cambridge Area Action Plan which is the biggest part of the draft Local Plan.
From the moment they were elected, the Lib Dem Council put its foot on the accelerator of the Local Plan project. It’s taken up a huge amount of Council resources. They’ve given it their full backing.
In a recent leaflet delivered throughout South Cambs, the Lib Dems boasted about the draft Local Plan saying it makes the area greener and fairer.
Have the Lib Dem Councillors been asleep at the wheel all this time? Not noticing a major issue brewing right in their own patch. If the Milton Councillors have failed to have any impact on the NE Cambridge AAP and are so concerned about it, then why has the Lib Dem Council given this plan their full backing?
