Labour’s candidate for Soham North, Sam Mathieson, met with Mayor Nik Johnson in his Ely office. Relating to his experience in Afghanistan he told the mayor;
“I worked side-by-side with interpreters during the Afghanistan conflict, they saved untold lives with their commitment to us and we owe these people and their families a duty of care. We must do everything we can to support and resettle them”.
The 3C’s approach struck a particular chord, if elected in poll Sept. 23rds poll Sam looks forward to applying the principles of community, compassion and co-operation to the role of District Councillor.
Dr Johnson’s victory in May demonstrates that Labour can and do win in this area, on concluding the meeting he said;
“It was fantastic to find out how much Sam shares my belief in the 3Cs and that co-operating to get the job done is far more productive than fighting your political corner.”
