"I pledge to make sure our Covid recovery is a change to a green future." Rebecca Denness
Cambridgeshire is suffering a Climate Emergency. A high risk of flooding, hot summers, watershortages, and damage to the carbon stores in Fenland peat.
Mine is a car-free household, I make my own compost and have a peat free garden. We reuse and recycle.
We urgently need county-wide action. I am part of the Parish Climate Change team. As a County Councillor I could do much more.
Labour will set a carbon zero target of 2030 (the Tory plan is for 2050).
Cambs has high emissions of greenhouse gases. Green energy must become the norm across the County.
Schools and council buildings should be solar powered. Car ownership in Cambs is 25% above average. We will reconnect our towns and villages with reliable, affordable, and all-electric buses.
We must support all ages and abilities to walk or cycle. Networks should allow people to reach their destinations easily, along high standard and connected routes.
Labour will increase nature through tree planting and protecting wildlife habitats such as chalk streams
