The A10 is dangerous. You know that. I know that. The statistics prove it. And yet nothing gets done.
We all know that the A10 between Milton, Waterbeach and Stretham is a dangerous road. We live here. We see the heavy traffic, the near misses and, sadly, the crashes.
Waterbeach Labour recently carried out a Freedom of Information request. The shocking result is that between 2010 and 2019 (which is the most up to date information available), there were 184 accidents on the A10 between Milton and Stretham—five of them fatal.
As we know, there’s an A10 upgrade study looking at options for upgrading the road. That could take years. And with it more accidents and more heart break.
The County Council simply says that improvements “will be considered”. And our Lib Dem County Councillor told me she wants to await further investigations.
We don’t need yet another report. We need immediate action to make the road safe. Exactly as I called for when speaking to ITV news recently. I want to see enforced speed limits, traffic lights and protection for pedestrians and cyclists.
There’s been too much dither and delay by the Tories and Lib Dems at the County Council. We need someone to make a positive difference and deliver for local people. That’s why I want to be a County Councillor for Waterbeach and Milton.
