Brexit has been the Tories flagship policy for four years. Boris Johnson and his government, including our own MP Lucy Frazer insisted on the hardest of trade deals with the EU. They have had those four years to plan for the consequences of their wishes, but have failed to do so. As a result, local businesses are facing soaring costs and mounting red tape working with EU businesses.
Recent press coverage has highlighted the fact that government departments are advising companies to move businesses to Europe to save costs and access European markets. One article in The Guardian focusssed on one company from Ely who, with Lucy Frazer’s apparent approval, were advised by the Department for International Trade to set up offices in Holland.
The incompetence of this goverment and our local MP is costing this constituency jobs. SE Cambs Labour’s business spokesman, James Bull, has written an open letter to Lucy Fraser demanding answers.
