2020 is drawing to a close and what a year it has been.
We once again saw how amazing our NHS is and how key workers go beyond what we expect. Mutual aid groups sprang up all around us showing a true spirit of community and solidarity. Scientists just down the road at AstraZenica created a vaccine in record time.
But while so many people inspired us, the incompetent Conservative Government let us down.
They are mismanaging the pandemic and 70,000 people in Britain have lost their lives, we are in the deepest recession of any major economy, with the virus once again out of control and with Christmas plans wrecked for many.
Locally the number of PCSOs are being slashed in half; Conservatives at the County Council refuse to hold an enquiry into care home deaths and we have an incompetent mayor whose botched bid for transport funds left Cambridgeshire short changed.
At the same time, we continue to face a climate emergency and the effects of leaving the European Union.
It’s time for new leadership.
In 2021 there are many elections in Cambridgeshire: for the county council, for a Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Mayor and for a Police and Crime Commissioner.
We in SE Cambs Labour will be fighting hard and we would love you to join us too.
In the meantime, have a good Christmas break and keep safe.
