How can I speak to someone from the local Labour Party?

A:

You can contact us through this website or by email ElyLabour@yahoo.co.uk. Someone from your area will be pleased to answer any questions and to chat.

Why would you be able to do better than the Tories in East Cambs?

A:

We believe that In Cambridgeshire, the Tories are an old fashioned, backward looking party unsuited to the County’s modern economy. Their obsession with cutting public spending has damaged the area and is bit by bit creating a situation where those who are less well-off get an increasingly poor deal.

Labour’s plan for East Cambs would see the district taking advantage of far more of the growth from the technology industries around Cambridge and moving out of the slow lane. We would have clear priorities on issues that matter most – providing affordable housing, sorting out the transport problems and ensuring new development is  a benefit without damaging our villages and towns.

What do you do between elections?

A:

All political parties want to win elections but we believe that we can also bring about important changes and local improvements through our work between elections. Week in, week out our members are active in campaigning and working on important issues. At the moment, we are pushing for Ely’s Princess of Wales Hospital to be developed and for the outpatient services to expand not shrink. We are bringing together parents, teachers and school governors to look at what should be done about the growing issues affecting local schools. These are just two examples but we will be taking up many other issues your raise with us via this website, from our popular street stalls or when we call on you with our doorstep surveys.
