So many people keen to talk

Another great turnout from the campaign team on a very warm Saturday afternoon. Many people keen to talk and see what Labour has to offer. No-one knows the Tory candidate and even their past voters are beginning to react to a sense of growing arrogance and complacency. Old political loyalties are beginning to shift.

Today’s issues mirror those from many other sessions with school funding and transport coming up repeatedly.  Similarly, there were a whole range of issues relating to basic services – street cleaning, emptying dog waste bins promptly, street lightings and the increasing scruffiness of some public areas. People ask – rightly – why do we receive such a poor deal for our council tax?

This makes a long ‘to do’ list for a new councillor but I am keen to take on the challenge. Elsewhere, Labour councilors have made a real impact and brought about improvements and this is my goal.
