The Fabian Society is carrying out a research project on the Labour party in rural areas. We are exploring political priorities in rural areas and rural attitudes towards the Labour party, and will begin to sketch out what a successful Labour approach to rural areas might look like.
Rurality is a somewhat flexible term. Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) statistics define all settlements with fewer than 10,000 people living in them as rural. But for this research project, we want to hear from all those living or working outside major urban conurbations.
