New figures show that not a single child on free school meals living in South East Cambridgeshire got in to Cambridge University last year.

Local people have been shocked by the report’s findings. But is it a major surprise?

The Conservatives and Liberal Democrats in coalition abolished the Educational Maintenance Allowance,which was a lifeline for young people from poorer backgrounds. They also left Cambridgeshire schools woefully under-funded.
