What a roller coaster year of a year we’ve had, both as a country and within our party. Happily our party is now in better heart and, as we move into 2018, we can face the future with unity and determination. Locally, we have district council elections in South Cambridgeshire in May. We had a very successful Campaign Training Day in November and now we need enthusiasm and stamina on the doorstep, along with local funds, to build on the 2017 election result. Please check the SE Cambs Labour website for updates and join one of our campaign teams across SE Cambs. Alex Mayer MEP will be joining us at Ely station on 2nd January 7am - 8.30am as part of the national campaign on rail fares. Please join us if you can. Thanks for all the work you do to help build a fairer and more equal society. It’s greatly appreciated.

Wishing you all the best for a happy and peaceful New Year.

Huw Jones Chair, SE Cambs Labour

Conference 2017

SE Cambs delegates attended the annual conference in Brighton, here is their personal report.

The Fabian Society is carrying out a research project on the Labour party in rural areas. We are exploring political priorities in rural areas and rural attitudes towards the Labour party, and will begin to sketch out what a successful Labour approach to rural areas might look like.
Rurality is a somewhat flexible term. Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) statistics define all settlements with fewer than 10,000 people living in them as rural. But for this research project, we want to hear from all those living or working outside major urban conurbations.
